This volume contains three English-language texts related to the Japanese Buddhist "Nichirenist" movement of the early 20th century, all of which were originally published in 1924.

"Japanese Civilization: Its Significance and Realization (Nichirenism and the Japanese National Principles)" and "Discovery of Japanese Idealism" were written by Professor Kishio Satomi, son of the Nichirenist movement's founder, Chigaku Tanaka. They explain the movement's core ideas for a Western audience. "The Barrier of Kankoku" is a short dramatic work originally composed by Chigaku Tanaka in Japanese.

This newly-edited compilation also includes an original introductory essay written by the editor.
